Responsibilities

Election to Fellowship is a mark of achievement and success.  It is also an expectation of service. The role of a Fellow is to contribute, in whatever way they are able, to promoting and achieving the aims and objectives of the Association.  This contribution should include the encouragement of colleagues to become professionally qualified and engaged as members of the Association.

Fellowship is about promoting the high ethical, professional and technical standards needed to rebuild public confidence and trust in the business psychology profession and growing the Association so our influence and expertise make a positive difference to the culture of business sector.

Our Fellows are active advocates, promoting the Association whenever and wherever the opportunity arises.

Our Fellows would mentor, encourage and support other members of the Association and the wider business psychology profession;

Our Fellows support our work through active participation, involvement and willing advice.

Eligibility and Application Routes

The HKBPA Fellowship is an accolade granted to professionals who have exemplified outstanding competence and have significantly contributed to the landscape of business psychology. Prospective Fellows must demonstrate a robust history within the domain, requiring a minimum of ten years of professional practice in business psychology.

Route One

Fellowship via Certified Business Psychologist (CBP) Status

To qualify for Fellowship through this route, candidates must possess the following:

  • Current Certified Business Psychologist (CBP) status.
  • A significant record of contributions to the HKBPA and the broader field of business psychology.
  • An enduring dedication to continuing professional development, embodying the role of both a model practitioner and a mentor within the professional community.
  • The assessment of candidates pursuing Fellowship through the CBP status will involve a comprehensive evaluation of their professional journey. Indicative criteria include, but are not limited to:
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, as evidenced by the ability to navigate team dynamics, implement change, and mentor or coach colleagues.
  • The cultivation and maintenance of advanced technical proficiency within the realm of business psychology.
  • A proven commitment to lifelong learning and development, evidenced by continuous professional education (CPE), engagement with professional networks, and additional qualifications.
  • Adherence to stringent standards of professionalism and ethics.
  • Experience in managing organizational cultural shifts and delivering successful, strategic projects.
  • Capacity for developing and executing strategic initiatives within the field.

Route Two

Fellowship via Experience & Contribution

This alternative pathway is designated for seasoned business psychology practitioners who may not hold CBP status but fulfill the Fellowship criteria based on their experience and contributions to the field. The evaluation for this category of Fellowship is distinct from the CBP-based assessment and is as follows:

  • A thorough appraisal of the candidate’s professional impact and contributions to business psychology.
  • The HKBPA retains the discretion to recognize and endorse additional methods for satisfying the Fellowship qualifications.
  • Candidates considering this route are advised to consult with the Association prior to application to discuss the recognition of potential alternative qualifications.
